Dr. Bethany Burge is a board certified Urologist at Urology Austin

Bethany Burge, M.D. is a board-certified Urologist. She grew up in Springfield, IL and received her undergraduate education at Illinois Wesleyan University. She attended medical school at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine in Springfield, Illinois.  She completed her internship and residency at Loyola University Medical Center before starting her career at Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights, IL, where she practiced urology for seven years prior joining Urology Austin.

Dr. Burge enjoys urology as a specialty, because she likes the continuity of care and the opportunity to create relationships with her patients, which is not always a part of a surgical specialty. She is focused on connecting with patients and creating a comfortable environment for the discussion of sensitive topics like incontinence and erectile dysfunction. She encourages patients to discuss these topics openly so they can work toward a treatment goal for improvement or cure of these conditions.

While Dr. Burge cares for all general urological conditions, she is passionate about treating women with urinary incontinence, which can be often be treated with minimally invasive procedures. She is proficient in surgical treatment of both stress and urge urinary incontinence including midurethral sling, Bulkamid, and Interstim.  She is experienced in applying these procedures, specifically Interstim, for the treatment of fecal incontinence as well.

She is also passionate about and experienced in the surgical treatment of erectile dysfunction.  She has advanced training in penile implants, which can be used to restore sexual function in men with erectile dysfunction.

Dr. Burge has also been recognized as a Center of Excellence for Urolift, a minimally invasive procedure for the treatment of lower urinary tract symptoms related to benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH).

When Dr. Burge is not working, she enjoys spending time with her family, including her twin girls and a newborn. When time permits, she also enjoys yoga, riding bikes and hiking.
