Brian Buhrer is a board-certified Physician Assistant who brings a diverse background in healthcare, military service, and community outreach to Urology Austin. He earned his Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies from the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, a Bachelor of Science in Human Biology from the University of Texas at Austin, and an Associate of Applied Science from the Community College of the Air Force.
Before entering the medical field, Brian served over eight years in the United States Air Force as an Explosive Ordnance Disposal Technician. His military career included deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan, where he was awarded the Purple Heart, three Army Commendation Medals, an Air Force Commendation Medal, and both Army and Navy Achievement Medals for his exemplary service. Stateside, he was honored as the 2009 Airman of the Year for Air Mobility Command and received multiple distinguished leadership awards.
Brian’s clinical experience spans several specialties, including emergency medicine and laboratory science, gained through his PA training and prior roles as a laboratory technician and emergency medical technician. He is also deeply committed to serving the Austin community, volunteering in medical roles for underserved populations and supporting fellow veterans through the University of Texas Veterans Association.
At Urology Austin, Brian works alongside Dr. Eric Giesler, contributing his broad expertise and compassionate approach to patient care. He is dedicated to delivering evidence-based treatment that emphasizes patient education, long-term health outcomes, and quality of life.
In Brians free time, he enjoys cycling, strength training, and camping with his son. Together, they aim to visit every state park in Texas.
