Dr. Altonburg earned both her Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) and Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) degrees from Baylor University, graduating at the top of her class in 2023. Her doctoral work focused on improving hypertension awareness through visual education. She discovered her passion for urology during her clinical rotation with Urology Austin in 2022 and joined the team shortly thereafter.
Before becoming an advanced practice provider, Dr. Altonburg served as a critical care nurse at Dell Seton Medical Center, where she also worked in the COVID-19 ICU. Her broad nursing background includes experience in medical-surgical, oncology, telemetry, and psychiatric care at the VA Puget Sound Health Care System.
A recognized leader in her field, Dr. Altonburg is among an elite group of Certified Urologic Nurse Practitioners credentialed by the CBUNA, reflecting her dedication to clinical excellence and integrity in patient care. She has received special recognition from Medtronic as a distinguished InterStim implanter and performs in-office percutaneous nerve evaluations (PNE) to help patients with overactive bladder achieve life-changing results.
Known for her compassionate approach, Dr. Altonburg prioritizes patient education and prevention, helping individuals improve quality of life and manage complex urinary conditions such as kidney stones, incontinence, and voiding dysfunction.
Outside of work, Dr. Altonburg has been married for over 20 years and is a proud mom to a daughter who recently began her freshman year at The Ohio State University, majoring in Chemistry and Physical Science. She enjoys running, having completed both the Chicago and Houston Marathons, and spending time outdoors with her beloved pug-dachshund mix, Pickle.
