Dr. Michael Granieri grew up in the suburbs of Chicago, Illinois. He completed his undergraduate and medical education at Northwestern University, where he graduated with distinction. He completed his surgical internship and urology residency at Duke University. Following that, he went on to complete a one-year fellowship in Male Reproductive Health and Reconstructive Surgery at New York University Langone Medical Center. During fellowship, Dr. Granieri received advanced training and certification in Male Infertility Microsurgery at the Cornell University Institute for Reproductive Medicine. He is the only fellowship trained specialist in the greater Memphis area for Male Infertility and Reconstructive/Prosthetic Surgery and has been designated a center of excellence for the AMS700 Inflatable Penile Prosthesis.

Dr Granieri’s interest in medicine was initially sparked from having several family members working in medicine.  That gave him the opportunity, at a young age, to see the impact a doctor could make in the life of a patient.  After learning more about urology as a specialty, he became interested in treatments and procedures that were restorative in nature. These include:

• Therapies to help resolve stress urinary incontinence and erectile dysfunction after prostate cancer treatment.
• Treatments to help couples overcome infertility and achieve their dreams of having a child.

These types of treatments are able to improve the quality of life for his patients and he finds that patients are often appreciative and grateful which leads to professional fulfillment.

Dr. Granieri’s guiding principal for patient care is to always put the patient first.

Whether during his training or while practicing medicine, Dr Granieri is always looking for opportunities to be a leader in his field. He is passionate about men’s health and likes to give back to his community. While he was a resident he helped to raise more than thirty thousand dollars annually each “Movember” to support men’s health awareness. In the community, Dr. Granieri has been interviewed on Sirius XM Men’s Health radio and frequently speaks at community events that are focused on men’s health.

He is the President of the Conrad Pearson Clinic. He has authored numerous publications and book chapters and is a reviewer for several medical journals, including the Journal of Urology. He also has international award-winning presentations to his credit. In addition, he travels across the country teaching fellows and residents about the newest advances and techniques in male sling surgery, artificial urinary sphincters and prosthetic penile implants.

Clinical research is another area that Dr. Granieri is passionate about. He has received several national and international awards for his research in trauma and reconstruction. He was a research fellow at Northwestern University Medical School and completed a thesis in urological research before finishing an additional research fellowship at Duke University. Today, he is the co-director of the clinical research department at the Conrad Pearson Clinic and he is dedicated to bringing the newest and most advanced treatments to the Memphis area.

Dr Granieri lives with his family in the Memphis area. When he is not at work, he enjoys spending time with his family and friends. Once a competitive tennis player, he likes to stay active and enjoys running.  Dr. Granieri likes to give back. He has participated in mission trips to Mexico to assist with urological surgeries and locally provides community education on men’s health. He likes watching college basketball and football – especially the Northwestern Wildcats and he enjoys rooting for his favorite Chicago sports teams – the Bears, Bulls, and Cubs.
