Paul Eber
, M.D.
“My goal to is to prolong the survival of patients with advanced prostate cancer and help them maintain a good quality of life.”
Dr. Paul Eber knew he wanted to be a doctor from the time he was in sixth grade. He was the first in his family to get a medical education, but not the last. He earned his medical degree at Indiana University School of Medicine, which was world renowned for the treatment of testicular cancer. That spurred his interest in urology. After graduating, he went on to complete his urology residency at the University of Tennessee, Memphis.
The field of urology is unique in that it is one of the only surgical subspecialties that combines surgery and the medical management of patients in roughly equal parts. It is this mixture and the fact that this profession left room to have a better work-life balance that led him to choose urology. He met his wife, a nursing student at the time, during his residency and has been married for 37 years.
In 2010, the first of many advancements in the treatment of advanced prostate cancer were FDA approved . With that, the physicians at The Conrad Pearson Clinic identified the need to consolidate all of the group’s advanced prostate cancer patients into a single clinic and Dr. Eber was asked to direct that effort.
The Advanced Prostate Cancer Clinic at Conrad Pearson now manages around 400 unique patients who have varying degrees of advanced prostate cancer. With that many patients , it is necessary to have a great team working side-by-side with him. He is blessed to have two nurses, one Physician Assistant and an Medical Assistant all working together to ensure great care for our patients.
Dr. Eber is passionate about education for his patients, and he likes to use analogies to describe and help patients understand their condition and treatment options. He spends a lot of time with his patients to make sure they receive the care they deserve.
Dr Eber is happily married and loves spending time with his four grown children, their spouses and his four young grandsons. One of his sons is following in his footsteps and is currently a urology resident in North Carolina. Dr. Eber has been married for 37 years and enjoys spending time with family and traveling with his wife. He likes fly fishing both locally and abroad, snow skiing , golf, hiking and camping.
