Robert Hollabaugh, Jr.
, M.D.
“I generally try to find the least complicated solution for a patient’s particular problem. I aim to provide an accurate diagnosis and provide the options to manage their condition. I always want to make sure that patients have all the information necessary to help them make their best decision.”
Dr. Robert Hollabaugh is a native of Memphis. He earned his B.S., cum laude, in molecular biology from Vanderbilt University. He completed medical school at the University of Tennessee College of Medicine, where he also served residencies in surgery and in urology.
Dr. Hollabaugh grew up in a family of doctors – both of his granddads, his father and his uncle were doctors. With that, he was interested in medicine as a career and his love of science and math helped to further lead him down that path. Once in medical school he felt himself drawn to specialize in Urology because he always liked understanding anatomy and enjoyed the procedural aspects of medicine and surgical disease management – those were his strengths.
The other appeal of Urology was it allowed for building long-term relationships with the patients where he could get to know them and become friends over the years.
Dr. Hollabaugh specializes in minimally invasive procedures and is focused on the treatment of BPH/Enlarged prostate as well as endoscopic kidney stone management. He also specializes in male fertility evaluations and vasectomy reversals.
Dr. Hollabaugh has several publications and numerous presentations to his credit. He completed a fair amount of research and presented at national and international meetings. He enjoys contributing to the growing knowledge base in urology. He has won several awards for outstanding urological research, including the Urology Research Award for Outstanding Effort and Contribution in the Field of Urologic Research in 1998 from the University of Tennessee. He is certified by the American Board of Urology and is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
Dr. Hollabaugh is married and has two children, and when he is not working he and his family enjoy the outdoors – hunting, fishing and swimming. He spends his free time at Lake Martin in Alabama because he is a life-long lover of water sports, such as waterskiing and wakesurfing. He also has a passion for music and plays the guitar. In fact, Dr. Hollabaugh played in Rock-n-Roll bands from high school through college, medical school and beyond. He is looking forward to the day that he can get back on tour.
